Okay... why are you doing this (-aside the fact that you are a furry -.-...?)
Why?
I've always enjoyed being the center of attention- in a good way. I love making people laugh, making people smile, it feels like I'm doing something right.
Not so long ago there was a news report on the TV of a colossal natural disaster that had left thousands upon thousands of people without their families, food or water. It was the first time I had actually paid attention to anything like that really, and for the comfort of my snug, warm house, I felt like I had to do something. Even just a little will help someone somewhere...
I told some of my friends at school, and they were completely up for the idea of a fundraiser- cake sales, second-hand sales, ect. We even planned out who was free, and who would do what (with myself as the project leader).
When the time came, and we could plan no more, the 4 of us went to our Head-of-Humanities and asked him what we needed to do to get a collection bucket. He asked us to pitch our ideas- so we did. He liked it. Liked it so much in fact that he stole all of our ideas, all of our plans, and gave them to his Year 8-9 'stars'.
I was gutted- and felt like a failure. Ever since, I'd been dead set on raising money one day to help those who desperately need it.
As a little girl, I always used to watch Newsround, and how these clowns- even a furry once- would go to childrens hospitals and hospices to put on shows and entertain them for the day. Although I would never had admitted it back then, I was really jealous of those performers. It's such a nice feeling to make people smile, even if they're laughing at something stupid you've done-- that's still one less frown in the world.
I would never have the confidence to perform to people- I'm too scared they wouldn't find me funny because it's me. Because they usually know me. But in a fursuit- they only know the character. They only know what they can see...
Granted, I've always wanted a fursuit- and being a furry is probably what swayed me to want a Flame-Eye one. But I want to help people- and I'm just not confident enough to show my face while doing it. Besides- who doesn't like
her stupidly large ears and derpy-derp expression :3.
What will commissions do?
The result of the commission fund will always change- and the first £600 pounds raised will be to fund my fursuit. Every penny raised after that will be donated to local charities- and certain seasons will focus on certain areas.
For example, in the Winter Months- when I can't really be outside in the rain and the snow- I'll be putting the commissions into animal charities to make sure every animal has a warm bed, a shelter and food in it's belly. In the summer months, when I can be outside in the suit as well- I'll perhaps be helping repay all of my supporters with something they need- whilst putting most aside for childrens charities. I'll always say on the website where the commission money is going at that point in time.
What charities are you most likely to donate to?
I say 'charity' as a general summary, but most of the funds will go to wild animal rescues, small-local vet clinics and rehoming centers. I'm not too popular with the idea of donating to the RSPCA *shock noises from the audience*- because I hear alot of stories about them, have had bad experiences with them in real life and- to be fair- they have a constant flow of funding anyway. Some of the (dare I say it) better, smaller, animal charities are really struggling because everybody donates to the RSPCA and never spares a thought for them?
It's the same with Cancer Research and Red Nose Day. They raise millions every year when some of that fund could be a lifesaver for somebody else somewhere else (when most of the sum goes straight into the pocket of the big boss anyway...).
I can 100% guarentee that all of the charity money I raise will go to charity. If I ever have to take money from this whole process, it'll be from my commissions (as that's technically my wage anyway).
